Addiction Treatment - Sutter Health |
Sutter Health |
|
No matter how you got started using drugs and alcohol – prescribed medications, illegal drugs, social drinking – the end result is generally the same. Over time, drugs and alcohol change your brain, making it difficult if not impossible to make good decisions. Eventually you need drugs or alcohol just to feel normal, and your use of them can seriously affect your relationships, and maybe your work or school obligations. Yet despite the negative consequences, you find it impossible to stop.
We can help. Sutter care centers have a variety of substance abuse programs that can help you get your life back. The first step is to meet with an addiction specialist to assess your problem. Then together we’ll develop a treatment plan that is right for you. We’ll also help your family and friends to learn more about addiction and how they can best help you get well. |

The Center for Child Protection (CCP) at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland offers comprehensive medical and mental health services to children impacted by violence and abuse. Our staff also sees hundreds of children from other Bay Area counties and throughout the northern and central regions of California every year. Our medical services include medical consultations in the hospital; forensic medical examinations in the emergency department and clinics; consultations to law enforcement, child welfare agencies and doctors in the community; and expert witness testimony. We operate a special around-the-clock team of doctors and advanced practice practitioners – the SAFE team – to conduct medical evaluations in acute cases (when an alleged sexual assault took place within the previous 72 hours). In non-acute cases (when an alleged assault occurred more than 72 hours previously), we provide forensic examinations in our clinic, at the request of law enforcement and by appointment only. We also accept referrals from community doctors when children need gynecological exams.

"Hi there. We are real-life East Bay parents dedicated to finding fun things to do with kids in our local area. After five years of parenting in Berkeley, we found no single resource that allowed us to find the best things to do with our children on a need-to-know basis. We created 510families.com in March 2010 in the hopes that it would grow into that resource. And we LOVE to see how this website has grown to become a go-to reference for other parents in the Oakland area." |

Our mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin.
Before the pandemic, one in five neighbors was at risk of hunger. Now, we know the need is even greater. We address hunger head-on – from our food pantry network and home-delivered groceries to CalFresh (food stamp) enrollment. Every week, over 53,000 households count on us for food assistance. 60% of what we distribute to them is fresh fruit and vegetables. |

Since 2002, our gym has quickly become known as a family friendly, high quality program that parents trust. In September 2012 we opened in the Fillmore Center with the same principles. San Francisco Gymnastics’ instructors are caring professionals trained to encourage children to have fun while participating in a challenging program.
Our facility is home of the popular Tumblebug Program for pre-school aged children, gymnastics classes of all levels, competitive teams, delightful birthday parties, exciting camps, and more all year round. |

Soccer Without Borders |
Soccer Without Borders |
|
While there are many positive sport experiences, soccer is the most universally accessible; at its most basic level it offers playing opportunities that are low-cost, physically beneficial, inclusive and enjoyable. Soccer also enjoys worldwide popularity, making it the perfect platform from which to develop physically, socially, and individually.
Soccer Without Borders believes that the potential of soccer to make change is deeper than simply playing the game. Rather, our programs are built around the philosophy that soccer’s interpersonal environment has unique potential to meaningfully impact participants. Within that environment, youth are exposed to the benefits of soccer and team sports for their bodies, voices, and minds, and supported in the application of these benefits to their everyday lives and future goals. |

Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program |
California Department of Social Services |
|
The Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program provides culturally and linguistically appropriate child welfare, foster care, and independent living services to youth who do not have parents in the United States (U.S.), or who enter the U.S. unaccompanied by a parent, an immediate adult relative, or an adult having document-able legal evidence of custody of the minor. Refugee children who enter the U.S. with family, but later experience a family breakdown may be eligible for the URM program.
Please note: The state administered URM program differs from the federally administered Unaccompanied Children (UC) program, operated through the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). |

Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center |
Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Center |
|
Xenophon offers both Therapeutic Riding and Hippotherapy. Each uses the multidimensional movement of the horse to positively affect physical, psychological, and behavioral functioning. In Hippotherapy, specially trained physical, occupational, or speech therapists perform treatment using the horse as an integral part of the therapy. Therapeutic Riding involves teaching the rider how to control and direct the horse. Therapeutic Riding is technically NOT considered therapy as it is not performed by a “therapist”. However, it does provide many of the same benefits as hippotherapy. All of our therapeutic riding instructors are trained and certified through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship. |

Youth ALIVE! |
Youth ALIVE! |
|
Since 1991, as mentors, youth leaders, counselors, case managers, intervention specialists and violence interrupters, we at Youth ALIVE! have worked to help violently wounded people heal themselves and their community. Our mission is to prevent violence and create young leaders. We believe that young people growing up and going to school in the city’s most violent neighborhoods, possess the power to change the city for the better. We meet our clients where they are, at home, in school, at the hospital bedsides of young shooting victims, on the streets of our most dangerous neighborhoods.
Our frontline staff is comprised of men and women who grew up in the communities they serve. Some are former victims, some former gang members. All are highly trained in the best practices of their profession. They bring not judgement, but only understanding, knowledge, and a path to greater peace for traumatized individuals and the city.
Our primary goals along the way to achieving our mission:
To educate and train young leaders to create a more peaceful community
To interrupt the cycle of violence on the streets
To convince angry victims and their loved ones not to retaliate
To provide ongoing support to help the wounded and grieving get needed services and heal from their trauma |
