Programs & Services:
Civil Legal Representation: Free legal services for low-income San Franciscans in non-criminal legal matters, including housing, family law, employment, immigration, consumer law, probate/elder law.
Housing / Tenant Rights: Eviction defense, landlord harassment, habitability issues, lockouts, discrimination claims, buyouts.
Family Law & Safety: Custody, support, divorce, guardianship, domestic violence, adoption, securing protection orders.
Immigration Services: Asylum, family-based petitions, naturalization, adjustment of status, U-visas, T-visas, TPS, VAWA petitions.
Employment & Labor Law: Unpaid wages, workplace discrimination, ADA accommodations, harassment, break violations.
Elder / Estate Planning: Wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives, conservatorships, probate litigation, elder abuse.
Consumer & Civil Litigation: Personal injury, contract disputes, debt collectors, identity theft, predatory lending, bankruptcy, public benefits (SSI/SSDI).
Integrated Support Services: Partnerships with social workers, financial counselors, therapists to offer wrap-around support to clients.
Volunteer / Pro Bono Programs:
• Attorneys may take full-scope cases or participate in legal clinics (housing intake, etc.).
• Interns, law clerks, fellows, and general volunteers contribute in legal and non-legal roles (language interpretation, tech, community outreach).
Eligibility / Service Area / Intake:
Free representation is provided to low-income adults residing in specific San Francisco Supervisorial Districts (1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 11).
“Low-income” is defined by being under 50% of Area Median Income (AMI).
Services are for individuals, not entities (though some small business owners may qualify).
They do not represent persons in criminal cases, traffic court, or Child Protective Services cases.
Clients living outside the service area may receive referrals to other legal aid organizations.
Intake is first-come, first-served; conflicts of interest may limit acceptance.
