We offer child care referrals and resources to families with young children and child care professionals in the Northern Alameda County cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Piedmont, Emeryville, and Alameda. If you need assistance with paying for child care, call us to see if you qualify for a subsidy program. We welcome families and child care providers to sign up for our parent education classes, professional development trainings, and playgroups held here at BANANAS and out in the community.   • BANANAS provides support and services to families, caregivers, and child care providers to ensure our youngest learners are ready for success in school and life.  We do this by providing child care referrals, payment assistance programs, workshops, playgroups, coaching, and support groups in Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Piedmont, Emeryville, and Alameda. Our child care referral counselors work closely with parents and assist them to create individualized child care referral plans. BANANAS maintains a database of over 900 licensed child care programs in northern Alameda County that includes information on program cost, hours available, services and location.

    BANANAS provides financial assistance to low and moderate income families so they can work, attend school or job training programs.  Our Family Navigators provide an extra level of support for families experiencing homelessness and those that provide foster care so they can receive child care and other services that support self-sufficiency. BANANAS East Oakland CubHouse office provides navigation support and playgroups for families in Havenscourt community.

    We offer parent education workshops and support groups and parenting series to hone parenting skills and to understand the stages of child development. The BANANAS Warmline Parent Coaching program offers 1:1 support with a parent coach to get free support around the challenge and stress of parenting.

    BANANAS offers professional development that support child care providers in delivering the highest quality care to children, including CPR/First Aid trainings, on-site coaching, and a workforce development program to train new child care providers. Workshops and trainings are offered in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
