Tiny House Village Volunteer Opportunity:
Will carry out two stipend eight-week training sessions teaching cohorts of eight youth in each session tiny house construction, as part of this effort. If this goes well, YSA will consider adding "tiny house construction" as a new vocational pathway in our empowerment-focused jobs training work. Interested in applying to be a resident of our Tiny House Empowerment Village transitional housing program? If you’re between the ages of 18-23, identify either Oakland or Berkeley as your home city, and are currently “literally” homeless as defined by Home Stretch

Other Programs:
Fine Art Program: The Fine Art program involves youth in creating original artwork made of traditional, recycled, and reused materials. It happens 3:30-6:30pm, every Monday through Friday in the YSA studio. YSA also encourages youth to explore performance art. Every third Saturday of the month, the youth hold a Poetry Slam, and perform pieces written in special trainings, led by Natasha Huey and Gabriel Cortez.
Weekly, YSA youth sell art their art at local businesses in Berkeley, and receive half the proceeds of their sales. The youth also learn about earning money, spending money wisely through budgeting, saving and investing money, using credit cautiously, and protecting one’s personal finance through an accredited curriculum. These combined efforts teach youth entrepreneurial and business skills.
Community Art Program: The Community Art program engages young people as leaders in neighborhood revitalization through creation of murals, tile projects, and other public art.
Art Entrepreneurship and Sales: The Art Entrepreneurship program helps youth participate in the marketing and sales of original and reproduced art.
