TUMBLEBUGS PROGRAM
Gymnastics classes to suit every child!
Classes are split into two programs: The Tumblebugs for preschool aged children and our Recreational classes for kids seven and older.
Tumblebugs and recreation classes focus on using all the traditional Olympic events: Floor and tumbling, bars, beam, rings and vault.
Lessons include skills and equipment developmentally appropriate for each age and level abilities.
Classes are priced in terms based on the traditional school year (varies). Standard membership and insurance fees also apply.
Littlebugs
Description: Littlebugs for ages 1 – 3 1/2: This is a 45 minute open format class is designed to provide an exploratory environment for children to play and work with their parents as they discover a wide variety of movement possibilities. Children have the opportunity to join structured activities or openly entertain themselves in a safe environment. If you are not ready to sign-up, each Littlebugs class is available at a drop-in rate of $30.00 per class. Parent supervision and participation required
Mini Bees
Description: For ages 2 1/2 – 4. This is a 45 minute structured class for children who are ready for more of a challenge. At this level, children are taken on the equipment in groups with a dedicated coach, while the parent helps the child understand how to stay with the group and participate successfully. This is a class that teaches skills and how to behave in a class structure as well as gross-motor coordination and social skills through the use of balance beams, mini-trampolines, bars, rings, tunnels, vault, and tumbling mats. Parent participation required
Busy Bees
Description: Busy Bees for ages 3 1/2 – 5: This is a 45 minute structured class for children with their parents if necessary. At this level, children are taken on the equipment in groups of 6:1 with a coach. This is a structured class that builds gross-motor coordination and social skills through the use of balance beams, mini-trampolines, bars, rings, tunnels, vault, and tumbling mats.
Grasshoppers
Description: Grasshoppers for ages 4 1/2 – 6: This class is a 45 minute class for children who are fully self directed and able to follow the coach’s instructions without parental guidance. We begin to focus more on specific beginning gymnastics moves and equipment while still incorporating plenty of obstacle courses, learning games and exciting skills.
Crickets
Description: Crickets for ages 5 1/2 – 7: This is a 60 minute class is most similar to our beginning recreational gymnastics classes. In Crickets, boys and girls work on the traditional Olympic equipment – Vault, Bars, Beam, Floor, Rings, and P-Bars as well as upper body strength to help with handstands and cartwheels. These classes are 60 minutes long, which allow the kindergarten child to get used to the longer classes. Crickets are good listeners and are preparing to join classes with the Girls or Boys Recreational classes when they are ready.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES
Classes follow NGA skills and students are regularly checked for skill acquisition.
Once a child has gained all skills in the beginning class, they are cleared to move to the next (Intermediate).
Class begins with a 10 minute group warm – up and ends with a short conditioning drill to help keep the kids in shape!
Beginner Classes
For ages 7-12 years. Recreational beginners is our intro to gymnastics class. Students practice many different artistic events including: Floor Exercise, Tumbling, Uneven/Parallel Bars, Vault, and Beam, as well Tumble Trax.
Recreational 2 Classes
This is recreational class for children ages 7 to 15 years old working on the same equipment as the beginners, but with more advanced skills and a half hour longer. Students must move up through the recreational beginner class or be invited to join this class after teacher evaluation. The goal of this class is to bridge the gap between a beginners and intermediate class for gymnasts who may be missing a few key skills.
Intermediate Classes
This is an intermediate recreational class for children ages 7 to 15 years old working on the same equipment as the beginners, but with more advanced skills and a half hour longer. Students must move up through the recreational beginner class or be invited to join this class after teacher evaluation.
Advanced Classes
Advanced recreational classes for students ages 7 to 15 years old working on the same equipment as the intermediate classes, but with more advanced skills and a half hour longer (2 hour class) . Students must move up through the appropriate levels or be invited to join this class after teacher evaluation.
