  • Community Healing:

    The ROOTS (Reclaiming Our Original Traditions and Stories) Training program is composed of a curriculum for Oakland youth that teaches the historical and contemporary manifestations of oppression through an ancestral and indigenous framework.

    Homies 4 Justice:

    Homies 4 Justice (H4J) is a paid internship program of Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ) that trains systems impacted, Oakland youth and young adults, ages 14-20, to become community leaders and agents of change. Homies 4 Justice provides job training, community-organizing skills and culturally rooted education for the defense of our communities against system violence and injustice.

    Life Coaching:

    Life Coaching is a program run by Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ), led by two Oakland natives and mentors, Mike Muscadine and John Jones III. Life Coaching provides support for formerly incarcerated young people and adults in Oakland.

    Aztlán Beautification Movement (ABM):

    The Aztlán Beautification Movement (ABM) is an ongoing mural and arts project of Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice (CURYJ).

    The Fruitvale Community Garden:

    The Fruitvale Community Garden functions to provide sustainability and wellness to Oakland locals. CURYJ members helped establish the Fruitvale Community Garden alongside community members and the Stop the Injunctions Coalition.

    La Cultura Cura Cultural Arts Cafe:

    La Cultura Cura Cultural Arts Cafe is a social enterprise of Communities United for Restorative Youth Justice. We are an intergenerational art and community building space run by systems impacted young people. We source organic coffee from our Mayan relatives in Chiapas to honor old indigenous trade routes and support small farmers working towards their autonomy. We promote cultural arts and activism by creating a business and art space that contributes to the positive economic development of the Fruitvale District in Oakland, California.
