    In 1986, a small group of women with cancer founded Women’s Cancer Resource Center “WCRC” to provide direct services to women with cancer, and to advocate for changes in the health care system. What began as a group of volunteers has now grown to a staff of eleven and a core group of nearly 200 active volunteers, providing extensive services to women with cancer and their loved ones. While our primary focus is still women with cancer, we have expanded to provide wellness programs for everyone — including people who do not have cancer — regardless of gender.

    Support groups and services are still available through online access during the COVID - 19 Pandemic. 

    In addition to women with cancer support groups, this program offers support for:

    LGBTQIA community support group available 

    Latinas Con Cancer community support group 

    African American Women with cancer community support group

    We also offer emergency financial assistance to low income people living in Alameda and Contra Costa counties through two programs: 

    The Faith Fancher Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, supported in part by the To Celebrate Life Foundation, The Friends of Faith, and other donors, provides financial support of up to $600 to low-income people actively in treatment for breast cancer and living in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. The Lindy Fund provides financial support of up to $600 to low-income women and men actively in treatment for all types of cancer (except breast) and living in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.Applications are submitted on a client’s behalf only by their medical social worker, patient navigator, or health care practitioner involved in the client’s care. While clients are not able to apply for these funds directly, we encourage clients to contact their medical social worker or health care provider as they may have applications for these funds already.
