    The Diagnostic Center is a one-of-a-kind department in Oakland Unified. The experienced and specialized staff at the Diagnostic Center are ready to support your family if you are concerned about the development of your young child. See below for information on when and how you access the Diagnostic Center for your unique student. 

    How Do I Start the Special Education Assessment Process for My Child?

    All that is legally required is a written request for an evaluation by a legal guardian AND proof of residency in Oakland. Preschool has tried to make this easier on our families by creating one place to get both of those things accomplished.

    Fill out the survey below (which takes about 30-45 minutes) - but this gives us the information we need to connect you with our intake specialist, Silvia Nuno.
