  • For the High School Equivalency Program (GED/HISET):

    At this time, all classes are virtual. This is a free program. The GED itself costs $140.

    All classes available through this resource are as follows--

    ESL Citizenship: Our ESL Citizenship class prepares students to take the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization interview and test.

    ESL College & Career Readiness Pathways: Students in our English as a Second Language (ESL) courses will improve speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary development, and grammar skills to successfully transition to community college courses, GED/HiSET test preparation courses, and/or employment.

    ESL Family Literacy: Our Family Literacy classes provide English as a Second Language (ESL) academic and literacy instruction to OUSD parents at their children's school.

    FabLab: Learn how to use digital manufacturing machines and the design software to make great things for you and the city of Oakland. These skills can also help you get high paying manufacturing jobs!

    High School Diploma/Credit Recovery: Students aged 18 years or older and enrolled in a local high school can concurrently enroll in our High School Diploma/Credit Recovery Program in order to graduate from their high school.

    High School Equivalency (GED/HiSET): Our High School Equivalency preparation classes help students pass the GED or HiSET exam and earn their high school equivalency diploma.

    Pre-Apprenticeship Math: Our construction Pre-Apprenticeship Math class helps students pass the Apprentice Exams for local construction trade unions, including Plumbing, Pipefitting, Welding, HVAC, Sprinkler Fitting, Electrician, Sheet Metal, and more!

    Project SEARCH: Project SEARCH is a yearlong, full-time Monday through Friday internship for adults with developmental disabilities. Project SEARCH takes place entirely at a host business site within the community. Total workplace immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and on-the-job training.
