Al-Anon Family Groups has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the Twelve Steps, by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics, and by giving understanding and encouragement to the alcoholic.
Al-Anon and Alateen offer from 4 to 9 meetings a day in the East Bay which are listed on the Al-Anon & Alateen website at www.ncwsa.org/d15. Membership is open to anyone who is bothered by another person's drinking. Alateen provides adult supervised meetings for teens who are troubled by another person's drinking. We are a fellowship of friends and families of alcoholics. We believe that alcoholism is a family disease and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.
Al-Anon is not affiliated with any sect, denomination, political entity, organization or institution, does not engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any cause. There are no dues for membership. Al-Anon is self-supporting through its own contributions. Al-Anon has but one purpose: to help families and friends of problem drinkers. Like AA, Al-Anon is an anonymous fellowship.
