Employment and Training:
The Welfare-to-Work (WTW) program is the employment and training component of the CalWORKs program that will provide you with the tools to become self-reliant through employment. WTW services use the CalWORKs 2.0 approach with a focus on helping families set and achieve realistic goals that are meaningful to them and build confidence, motivation and the ability to develop essential skills. General Financial Assistance:
General Assistance (GA) provides cash aid to indigent adults and emancipated minors who are legal residents of Alameda County and who have no other means of support. It is a state-mandated program that is locally administered and funded by the County of Alameda. GA benefits are considered a loan to the individual(s) receiving aid. The maximum cash grant for a single person on GA is $336 per month and $548 per month for a couple.
CalWORKs:
CalWORKs, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids, is a public assistance program that provides temporary assistance to families with children and expectant mothers.
The Alameda County Workforce Development Board:
The ACWDB is a dynamic 27-member employer-led body that oversees Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs and a variety of other programs in response to business and industry needs. The ACWDB ensures relevant career services for job seekers, including adults, dislocated workers, youth, and young adults. ACWDB also provides resources for employers to assist in identifying talent, as well as growing, training, and retaining their workforce.
ACWDB’s career services are delivered through community and education partners located throughout Alameda County. Job seekers learn about high-growth employment opportunities in Alameda County, acquire occupational skills through training, and find assistance with employment placement and supportive services.
