UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland offer a full range of outpatient psychiatric and psychological services for children up to age 18 and their families, as well as consultation and supporting clinical services to inpatients and staff. Services include:
- Psychopharmacological Therapy
- Outpatient Mental Health Services: Providing evaluations, individual and family therapy to children ages 5 through 21 and their families.
We also schedule appointments at our specialty care offices in Walnut Creek.
- Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT): Providing Emergency Room evaluations of children with suicidal ideation, behavioral crises or possible need for psychiatric hospitalization
- Inpatient Consultation-Liaison Service: Serving hospitalized children and families with a wide range of familial, behavioral and psychiatric difficulties affecting their child’s medical care—children and adolescents with both acute medical problems and chronic illnesses are seen by our staff and trainees
- School-based Clinics: Serving Castlemont High School and McClymonds High School in Oakland. Qualifications/Ages: 5-18 years of age Private Insurance Alameda Co. MediCal

Multidisciplinary Psychiatric Medical Care: Compassionate professionals in the Division of Psychiatry at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland offer a full range of outpatient psychiatric and psychological services for children up to age 18 and their families, as well as consultation and supporting clinical services to inpatients and staff. Children's multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers treat children from many backgrounds and with a wide variety of conditions, including adjustment disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, and ADHD Referral Information Referrals for outpatient treatment and evaluations come directly from pediatricians, social services, Alameda County’s Access system and other community service providers. Pediatricians in both our in-patient units and our primary care clinics refer their pediatric patients to the Department of Psychiatry when they suspect more serious psychological/psychiatric conditions, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, Tourette’s syndrome, suicidality, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, major depression, etc.
