Building Blocks Therapeutic Preschool & K/1 Program
Building Blocks is a year-round early intervention preschool, kindergarten and first grade program for children ages 3-7. Most of our students come to us with severe behavioral challenges, often caused by exposure to abuse, neglect, or other environmental factors that influence their social-emotional development.
The goal of our specialized services is to address the behavioral, emotional and developmental challenges of each student in order to prepare them for a less restrictive educational setting. At the same time we provide a rich learning environment to foster pre-academic thinking and growth. All services can be offered in Spanish.
Therapeutic Preschool
At Building Blocks’ Therapeutic Preschool we are dedicated to providing a safe,
nurturing environment that supports each child’s particular strengths and
challenges. Through the delivery of a thoughtful and developmentally
appropriate curriculum our two preschool classrooms are designed to meet the
individual needs of each student. Each classroom is staffed by a certified
preschool teacher, a therapist, and two mental health counselors trained to
support students who have a variety of behavioral challenges. In total, we
serve 18 students between the ages and of 3 and 5.
The preschool is a year-round, morning only program. The program hours are 8:45 AM to 1:00 PM.

K/1 Nonpublic Therapeutic Program
The goal of our Kindergarten/First Grade Therapeutic program is to actualize
our mission of unconditional care. We achieve this by serving students whose
behavioral and emotional difficulties prevent them from succeeding in public
school settings. Most of our students have experienced challenges at other
school placements and need the intensive support we provide in order to succeed.
We offer robust and engaging academic instruction aligned with California state
standards. Our therapeutic program works to give our students the tools they
need to successfully transition to a mainstream school setting.
The K/1 program operates year-round. The program hours are 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

How can I enroll my child?
Seneca's nonpublic schools are tuition-free special education settings operating in concert with students' local schools and districts. Only district or school staff may refer students to a Seneca nonpublic school and all referrals occur through the IEP process. The goal of special education is to maintain a student in the least restrictive educational environment necessary. While Seneca's nonpublic schools provide wonderful services to students, not all students require this level of care. If you are interested in learning more about nonpublic school placements, please contact the Seneca school nearest you or your child's current special education case manager.
