• Detailed Information

  • Children living with chronic illness may feel isolated because of their condition. Frequent hospital visits and deficient immune systems often cause them to miss time in school and recreational activities. Families, overwhelmed by the cost and demands of ongoing medical care, often lack the resources to seek out or afford extracurricular activities. Healthy siblings are affected too when family resources are focused on a chronically ill child. CoachArt supports these families by offering free recreational lessons that bring a sense of normalcy back into their lives.
    

    Since 2001, CoachArt has matched volunteer coaches with students for one-on-one or group lessons in arts and athletics. Our vision is that one day every family impacted by chronic illness will be connected to a community of support and an opportunity to learn and grow together.
    

    IN HOME LESSONS

    In Home Lessons are the core of CoachArt’s Service model.  Talented volunteers provide high-quality in-home instruction to chronically ill children and their siblings over the course of 8 weeks.  At the end of the 8 week session, CoachArt students can renew their activity or sign up for something new. All lessons and materials are provided at no cost to volunteers or families.

     

    SCHOLARSHIPS

    CoachArt’s Program Partner Scholarships offer free multi-week lessons at local martial arts, music, yoga, dance studios and more. Program Partner Scholarships provide an opportunity for children to join the fun at safe, supportive, and CoachArt approved partner sites.

     

    COACHART CLUBS

    Join a CoachArt Club and be part of a special team focused on provided chronically ill children with enriching athletic experiences in a supportive team environment. CoachArt Clubs create unique multi-week experiences where children form a bond with fellow participants while gaining valuable skills in the activity of their choice.

     

    GROUP LESSONS

    CoachArt’s One Day Group Lessons provide short- term instructive settings for a group of children to learn a new skill in a supportive social environment.

     

    SPECIAL EVENTS

    With the help of many supportive partners, CoachArt is able to offer tickets to special events like LA Dodgers baseball games, Cirque du Soleil, local museums, and more!
